July in the plantations

Three of our best boys are back with us to start marking the trees ready for this seasons wholesale. This is happening under the watchful eye of Hans. They are being graded to Hans' exacting standards. Potential customers will be able to visit and see exactly what quality of trees they will be expecting to be delivered at Christmas. 

 

Other jobs at this time include mowing the weeds between the trees as well as the pathways. Even Kristien got involved brush cutting the plantation near the retail area. 

High pruning needs to be carried out on our taller trees as the "bud nipping" is too difficult as they grow very tall. It is important to cut out the leggy branches of this years growth to trim them into the traditional Christmas tree shape. The plantations are almost ready for the many visitors we have at this time of year looking to buy high quality, home grown trees for their Garden centres and wholesale businesses.
